The Neighborhood School (PS363M) is in the process of selecting our next principal. The NYC Department of Education posts principal vacancies throughout the year, and our community will play an important role in this process under Chancellor’s Regulation C-30.

What We’re Looking For

NYCPS seeks self-motivated, visionary school leaders who can improve student learning by:

  • Using data to set high learning goals
  • Leveraging deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Developing staff and sharing school leadership
  • Managing resources effectively
  • Fostering a culture of excellence through personal leadership

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a valid New York State certificate in one of the following:

  • School Administration/Supervision (SAS)
  • School District Administration (SDA)
  • School Building Leadership (SBL)
  • Administrator Certificate

Internship certificates are not accepted.

Cover Letter Requirement

Applicants must address this question in their cover letter (100-400 words):

Why are you an excellent candidate to lead this specific school, including any experience or special skills that you will bring as the new leader to enable the school to meet and surpass its goals?

Posting Calendar

Principal and assistant principal positions are posted on the 1st and 16th of each month. All postings open and close at 3:00 PM.

The C-30 Selection Process

The selection of principals is governed by Chancellor’s Regulation C-30. This includes a school-based selection committee with representation from parents, teachers, and school staff. The process must be completed within 180 days of the posting closing.
