Ways to get involved at The Neighborhood School

Our Parents Shape Our Culture

At The Neighborhood School, parent involvement is what makes our community extraordinary. Whether you can give an hour a month or help lead a major event, your contribution makes a real difference in your child’s school experience.

Volunteer Opportunities

Prospective Parent Tours

Help welcome families who are considering TNS for their children. Tour guides share their experience as current parents and help prospective families understand what makes our school special.

Classroom Support

Work with teachers to support learning in the classroom. Opportunities include reading with students, assisting with projects, and helping prepare materials.

Bulletin Boards

Help keep our school visually vibrant by creating and maintaining hallway bulletin boards that celebrate student work and school community.

School Events

Our events depend on volunteers! Help plan and run community gatherings throughout the year, including:

  • Welcome Back Breakfast
  • Fall Fling
  • Talent shows
  • Potlucks
  • Book fairs
  • Ice skating trips
  • Spring fundraising events

PTA Committees

Join a PTA committee to help shape school programs and initiatives:

  • Fundraising – Plan and organize fundraising campaigns and events
  • Events – Coordinate community events throughout the year
  • Website – Help maintain and improve the school website
  • Communications – Help keep families informed and connected

How to Get Started

  1. Sign up on Konstella – Our parent communication platform is the best way to hear about volunteer opportunities
  2. Attend a PTA meeting – Open to all families, held monthly
  3. Talk to your child’s teacher – They can connect you with classroom-specific volunteer needs
  4. Contact the PTA – Email ptapresident@tnsny.org to learn more

Every family has something to offer. We appreciate whatever time and energy you can share with our school community.
